The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Thursday carried out a major operation in Quaid-e-Azam Town, removing encroachments and slums that had been illegally set up on government land worth crores of rupees.
Acting on the orders of Lahore Commissioner and LDA Director General Muhammad Ali Randhawa, teams carried out an operation on a 14-kanal plot of land designated for parking and a park. Private individuals had illegally encroached upon the land.
The operation was supervised by Director Housing Zafar Iqbal, while a large contingent of LDA enforcement officials and police were present at the site.
LDA officials said that the recovered land would be used for the construction of a parking lot and a park as per the original plan. They also warned that strict action would be taken against those who encroach upon government land in the future.
The operation was welcomed by local residents, who said that it would help improve the cleanliness and aesthetics of the area.
